Join us on Saturday, December 2nd, for an afternoon filled with candy, fun and the holiday spirit. Decorate your own gingerbread home with family and friends!
Cost: $125/house (up to 4 people to a house). Gingerbread house, candy, light refreshments and holiday fun all included! All ages welcome. Proceeds support the programs of the Marin Art & Garden Center.
The following pastry chefs will be on
hand for inspiration and instruction:
Jill Branch – Branching Out Cakes Jill Branch has been creating beautiful wedding cakes with her business partner Ann Sakai for over 10 years. They are committed to providing high quality cakes using only the freshest ingredients and often make custom designs based on the couples’ preferences and to match with the theme of the wedding. Jill is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy previously worked at the Lark Creek Inn in Larkspur. She has also taught specialty classes at Greystone in Saint Helena, the west coast location for the Culinary Institute of America. See a gallery of Branching Out Cakes here!
Lorriann Raji – Pastry Chef Instructor, Laney College Lorriann Raji is a graduate of The Hotel & Restaurant Management Program at City College of San Francisco, then served as a Culinary Apprentice before working at The Dorchester Hotel in London for 2 years. From there, pastry school at the Richemont in Luzern Switzerland and the Ecole Nationale Superieur de la Patisserie in Yssingeaux France. She spent a total of 7 years working in Switzerland, France, Italy, England and Japan before taking the position of Head Pastry Chef at the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco for 13 years. She was previously Culinary Instructor at the California Culinary Academy/ Le Cordon Bleu school and now full time Tenured faculty and Co-department chair at Laney College in Oakland Ca.

Halima McLaughlin – Insalata’s Restaurant
Bruce Johnstone – Insalata’s Restaurant
Meggan Arnoux – Insalata’s Restaurant Meggan is a Bay Area native who has been cooking for more than thirteen years. She attended culinary school in Santiago, Chile, where she resided for many years. With special emphasis in the pastry arts and Regional Chile cuisine, she is a passionate chef and culinary instructor eager to share her food and knowledge with others.
Caitlin Olesky – The Cooking School at Cavallo Point Since 2012, Caitlin has been working at the Cooking School at Cavallo Point Lodge as a chef instructor. Prior to that, she had been working at Insalata’s restaurant in the pastry department since 2008. She was employed by the Lark Creek Inn from 1997-2007 as a line cook, a sous-chef and then the pastry chef. Caitlin attended culinary school in New York City and worked in several two and three star restaurants before moving here in 1997. She lives in Mill Valley with her husband and two kids and does triathlon in her spare time!
Ethan Howard – Murray Circle Restaurant at Cavallo Point From the age of six while growing up in San Jose, Calif., Chef Howard knew he wanted to be a chef. He initially developed his sweet tooth for pastries while working with Chef François Payard in New York City. It was there he learned basic techniques and developed a passion for the art of baking French-style pastries.
Chef Howard studied refined pastry at The French Laundry, and defined the pastry menu at The Martini House in St. Helena. Before starting his position at Murray Circle, Chef Howard worked as a pastry chef at Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery in Yountville, Calif. Chef Howard was also named one of the Top 5 Pastry Chefs in the U.S. by Gayot in 2008.
