Author Betty Goerke will present A Broken Propeller, the gripping story of the first coast-to-coast air race in 1919. The race began simultaneously in San Francisco and Long Island in WWI open cockpit planes with no parachutes. Fifty-nine pilots battled rain, fog and snow, with many forced landings and crashes. Her father was one of the eight who completed the race.
