Local artist Charlie Kennard has added a new feature to the Basketry Garden on the hill behind the Barn theater. Woven of willow branches, the new addition’s remarkable variegated colors will gradually fade as the wood dries and ages. This time of year, when grasses and leaves don’t conceal the woven works, is an ideal time to take a walk along the Basketry Garden path. A lucky few will be getting a hands-on lesson from Charlie himself on February 10, when he will be leading a workshop in constructing a type of basket that is typically used as a beehive. This class is full, but we look forward to hosting more of these types of events in the future.
