DATE: July 10, 2019

TIME: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

LOCATION: The Studio

Dr. Erika Woolsey will discuss the importance of ocean conservation and the need to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and public understanding. She will then take the audience on a “dive” as she shares new footage of manta rays filmed on the coral reefs of Palau.

Erika Woolsey is the Co-Founder and CEO of The Hydrous, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create “open access oceans” so that all people may explore, understand, and engage with marine environments, which are severely threatened by climate change and human impacts.

This talk takes place in conjunction with the exhibition, “Exotic Aquatic,” which features multi-media artwork by Erick Dunn as well as a virtual reality film, “Immerse,” created by The Hydrous and featuring Dr. Woolsey. Immerse will be available for viewing in VR headsets after the talk.
