We are looking for people who would like to join us and help fulfill the Marin Art & Garden Center’s mission to provide information and inspiration in the arts, gardens, and the environment.

Volunteers have been at the heart of MAGC’s operations since our founding in 1945. We currently offer several different opportunities for volunteers to help MAGC flourish, so whether you’re interested in getting your hands dirty in the gardens, exploring the history of this Marin landmark, or helping our engaging programs to run smoothly, we have a place for you!

Garden volunteers support our efforts to create and maintain our beautiful grounds. Volunteers will assist the horticulture staff with essential tasks such as weeding, raking, removing debris, adding or removing seasonal plants, and light pruning.  You must be able to lift 20 lbs. Some knowledge of sustainable gardening practices and some plant knowledge is preferable, you may be asked to answer questions from visitors. Weekly or monthly shifts.

Docent volunteers will share the history of MAGC to guests, and introduce MAGC to those who are new to us.  Volunteers will serve as liaisons to MAGC by leading walking tours of the MAGC property, which may include a video shown to guests at the Moya Library.  You’ll be prepared to answer visitor questions and/or know where to gather information to answer those questions.  Tours may be tailored to groups and their interests and needs such as gardeners, or historians and for those with limited mobility. Weekly or monthly tour schedule.

Hospitality volunteers are dedicated to providing a welcoming atmosphere to our guests, and to provide support for our programs.  Volunteers will assist with food service at events such as summer concerts, lectures, or workshops.  You’ll greet visitors at workshops and lectures, and assist with set-up and clean-up of events.  You must be able to lift 20 lbs.  To be contacted as needed for events.

Volunteers must be 18 or older, or with a permission slip signed by a parent/guardian. All volunteers will be required to sign an agreement and abide by MAGC’s volunteer guidelines.
